Meet Global Pay

Easiest, safest, and cheapest way to make cash and crypto transactions.

Global Pay is a finance digital app that helps people move money between countries, convert and hold multiple currencies, including cryptocurrencies, send and receive payments, salaries, pensions, etc. securely, easily, and quickly from anywhere and anytime. In today’s world, a lot of people frequently travel or settle abroad while working for their home countries or have family or friends living all around the globe, and it’s important for users to have access to and control over their finances conveniently and hassle-free.

This was an academic project at Career Foundry that I did, where I spent a large amount of my time understanding the finance and web3 industry and how it is changing the future of transactions and creating a product that would solve this issue.

Problem  Statement

With increasing remote international jobs each year, there is high demand for a tool that makes it easy for individuals and businesses to make or receive payments, convert currencies, or move money easily including cryptocurrency. High transaction fees, non-user-friendly apps, and security issues make it hard for users to maintain economical and convenient control over their finances in the current market

Our  Goals

Create a responsive e- wallet app that supports fiat and crypto currencies which allows users to make or receive payments, convert fiat and crypto currencies, and move money internationally easily and securely without paying heavy transaction fees.

Competitive Analysis

The digital wallet revolution is here, and more businesses are getting into the market. Contactless payments grew in popularity during the pandemic and helped increase the usage of digital wallets.

  • There are many competitive e-wallet apps in the market for fiat currencies that provide a range of attractive services and make moving money easier for users and there are also some apps which provide crypto currency transfers, but there are very few apps (and with lots of limitations) which allow both fiat & crypto currency transactions easily, quickly and conveniently.

  • The creation of competitive profiles (in terms of marketing strategy, target market, core business, usability, layout, navigation structure, compatibility, content, design, and performance) together with SWOT analysis helped to understand how different apps work and are trying to provide something unique to their customers to have that market edge.

  • Analyzing these apps helped me understand the market gap and business limitations related to converting crypto & fiat currencies which was an important part of the research.

Affinity  Mapping

To study the users goals, needs and pain-points, user research interviews were conducted with six different participants. The participants are located all around the world. I learned a lot while during this process and found some valuable key insights regarding different features, structures, and elements of the app. Getting feedback throughout the design process helped me a lot to work in the right direction.

Key Findings

  • Different wallets for different needs

Most users have more than one e-wallet account for their different needs. They would love to have one stop solution for all their financial needs.

  • High exchange rate and transfer fees

It's important for users to have a good exchange rate and low transaction fees when making transactions. Fees for crypto transfers are usually very high.

  • Complicated and non-user friendly

Users don’t have an easy way to store and convert them to cash, as crypto e-wallets are very complicated and require many steps to make transactions.

  • Phishing attacks on wallets and accounts

Users are afraid of fraudulent activities. Users feel safe with well-established e-wallets. They are more convinced to try it when someone recommends it.

  • Tracking activities and transactions

It's important for users to have all the information and charges clearly and transparently laid out. Notification of every transaction is crucial for users.

  • Delay in solving issues and queries

Users are not happy with delays in customer support, even for simple issues. It’s important to address any queries quickly and effectively.

User Personas

Using the qualitative and quantitative data from interviews and survey results, I defined and identified 3 user types/target profiles. This helped better empathize with the main user group and prioritize goals according to their needs.

User Journey

User journey maps were created to understand the users point of view to design better user experience

Usability  Test & Analysis

To study Global Pay app, usability tests were conducted with six different participants. The participants are located all around the world. I learned a lot while conducting these usability tests and found some valuable key insights regarding different features, structures, and elements of the app. Getting feedback throughout the design process helped me a lot to work in the right direction.

Style Guide

Final Designs

The final prototype of the app was created by understanding and implementing the principles of material design, which helped make the app look more professional. Also followed the principles of accessibility to improve the design of the global pay app to cater to a wider audience.

Experience & Learnings

Over the course of this project, I learned a lot about the traditional finance market and crypto currencies. How it works, charges for the transactions and its limitations, but the most important thing for me was to understand the users. It was a wonderful experience to understand users, it was very interesting to see how different users can have similar goals but different needs.

Conducting user surveys and interviews helped gain in-depth knowledge and understanding about the users, analyze information, and find unique data. So often, seemingly obvious but absolutely forgotten things emerge out of interviews and quick user tests.
